Berriedale Farms is located among the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia in the Cowpasture River Valley. Our heritage family farm is arguably the first in the UnitedStates to be protected by both a Land and Rare Breeds Conservation easement. The Nature Conservancy oversees our land conservation best management practices. And we closely collaborate with the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy on the protection of Red Poll cattle –an ALBC “threatened” heritage breed.
Grass-fed Berriedale Beef for Sale
Berriedale Farms raises for sale, direct to the consumer, grass-fed and -finished Red Poll Cattle. Heritage Red Poll cattle are given highmarks for grass-fed marbling, flavor with all the complexities of pasture and fine-grained-tenderness by The Saveur Chef's Magazine and discriminating cooks around the world. The largest herd of Red Poll cattle is personally owned by the Queen of England. While one of the smallest herds of Red Poll cattle grazes on native grasses and legumes at Berriedale Farms.
Cabin on the Cowpasture for Rent
Berriedale Farms and its Cabin on the Cowpasture River, is ideal for family vacations, father and son hunting trips, and mother and daughter get-a-ways. Our log Cabin is nestled in the foothills of the majestic Shenandoah Mountain in a mature forest and it overlooks a great bend and swimming hole in the Cowpasture River. The George Washington National Forest shares a common boundary with Berriedale Farms on the east and the Highland Wildlife Management Area flanks our farm on the west. Access to the cabin is via a private gravel road and there are no other people or buildings or roads within half a mile. The cabin is best suited for those who wish to leave behind them all things urban.
Come and enjoy a southern family farm in rural America.
